Belonging to the series of songs that gave birth to the cult of Ali Hamza, ‘Maare Kakkya’ was conceived and composed during Hamza’s undergrad days (at LUMS), as an ode to his friend (nicknamed “Kakki”), and the ladies he sought to impress.

How many artists do you know of who wrote love ballads for their friends!

Now, more than two decades, and a lifetime of experiences later, Hamza collaborates with the Maestros Rakae Jamil (Sitar), and Kami Paul (Duff), to present the first single from his upcoming solo project.

A haunting, soulful track, the song has a unique lyrical take. It talks about an ownership tussle between two stakeholders - the girlfriend and the sister.

In its earlier acoustic incarnation, this song relied solely on the magic of Ali Hamza’s strong vocals. Now, embellished with Rakae’s gentle sitar and Kami’s rhythmic duff, this three-minute-long rendition is bound to captivate you and pine for the nostalgic days of love that was found or lost.
